March 4, 2013

Well this week has been a little too exciting for me. haha. Do I have some stories for you! well...lets get the good stories out first:D
First of all...Bishop Sweeney is the mission president for scottsdale? That is Crazy cool!!! There will have to be some reassigning of missionaries, and that would be too funny if I got sent to his mission. that is sweet!!!
Well, the cool experience of the week is with M and F B. They have been taking the lessons for about a month before I came here. They are in their 50s and not married. She has loved meeting with the missionaries in the past...him not so much. BUT, we had a drop by lesson at their house this last week and just got to know them better. well it was super good. we talked all about eternal families and the blessings of the gospel. I asked them if he would be baptized and he said yes!!!! The 23rd is going to be a great day! F's brother is actually a member of the ward and he was so suprised when we told him the awesome news!!! Well M and F had a meeting with the bishop and they set their wedding date for the 23rd as well. Vamos a tener una boda!!!!!!!!! we are going to have their wedding and their baptism all in the same day. I am super excited!
Okay, now it is story time. I absolutely love riding my bike , love love love it! We were biking to the church on friday and were kind of late, so we were really hurrying. Well the side walk is about 1 inch taller than the parking lot and for some reason....even though we have done it plenty of times before, my bike did not want to go over it this time. So what happened? Well let me tell you. Haha. Cristy would love to have seen this one, watching people fall, bwhahaa. Well the bike gets stuck on that 1 inch of side walk and it throws me over the handle bars, I flew about 6 feet before I landed on my knee, my arm and my chin. Haha. Can you imagine how ridiculous that looked? haha. Well, we were riding to the church to meet a member there to go to a lesson. So I get up and we take our bikes inside and go to the lesson and my arm starts to kill me! well, it was a really aweful lesson, all I could do was sit there are hold my arm, so hermana Z and Hermana A pretty much covered the lesson with out me. Well Hermana Z took us to her home and gave me some Ice and then took us to get icecream sundaes at mcdonalds, best medicine EVER! ha. Saturday the mission nurse sent us to urgent care who then sent us to the ER and 9 hours later they told me I had a broken elbow and a really bruised knee....well actually they said it is a radial fracture.....but I don't really know what that means, so I stick with broken elbow. So they gave me some reallly good drugs and the mission president gave us a car and I have to have my arm in a sling for a month. Haha, life really is funny sometimes :D

But things really are good, and I am super bummed we have a car now. but I definitely cant ride that bike right now. It is a big party down here :D
Well I love you all sososososoooooo much! Things really are good, so no worries. But I hope you all have a super good week and I can't wait to email you again next week
! LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So first is that there are splitting our MISSION!!! Should be something about it in the church news president said. They are taking the tempe and mesa missions and making a tempe, mesa, scottsdale, and gilbert mission. Double the freshenss, double the fun! Craziness:D It is such a fun time to be on a mission over here!
Well I am in Mesa, CALLED IT! ha. I am training Hermana Anderson, she is from michigan, and she is awesome! I really miss queen creek, but I love mesa. Would you believe that my first day here it was raining during the day?! Well, I am super lucky, what can I say :D But it gets better. Well here in arizona it never snows right? Wrong! That night there was a huge storm that came through with lots of hail and a little bit of snow too. Where am I again? the hottest state? I don't think so. Haha, I thought it was a little ironic being my first day in only a bike area. but I really do love it! There are so many people that we get to talk to on the streets here! It is sweet!
I want to share one cool story with you. Well mesa is doing pretty good investigator wise, we have quite a few. We were going around meeting people and we had dinner with one of the families we are teaching, M and F. Well, for dinner, I prayed extra hard over the food. We had ground up beef liver and intestines formed around a hard boiled egg, boiled in broth and served with potatoes. It was quite interesting. But we ate it and felt sick the rest of day. Haha. We had a super good lesson with them about eternal families. Committed them to come to church and to be baptized on the 23rd of March...looks like we are going to have a wedding soon! They came to church yesterday with 3 of their grand kids, it was the best day ever.
Since being here in Mesa, and being with a new companion, I have grown and stretched myself so much. Heavenly Father has helped me learn a lot this week. The biggest miracle of all is that with all of the conversations that I have had in spanish, I have understood every word and have been able to say the things that I needed to. It is so amazing to see really the gift of tongues come alive. I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father for the blessings I have seen on my mission, and for helping me learn spanish. He never ceases to amaze me:)
Well I have got to run, but want to share something for you to think about. This came to my mind the other day, and I super duper like it. I was thinking about the scripture that says, be ye therefore perfect. I was thinking about all of the imperfections that I have and what I can do to be better. Well this was my thought. Perfection is giving our gift of agency back to our Father in Heaven. When our will truely alines with His, that is where perfection comes from. And looking at the life of our Savior, that really is the case.
