This week has been great and really interesting. Sadly I did not take any pictures of my lovely mishap with my bike.....I really didn't want to remember it :D haha. But things are good. The bruise on my chin is pretty much gone so it doesn't look like I got beat up, my knee is not as swollen as it was, and I can move my arm quite a bit. Things are definitely on the up side :D And that is super funny you emailed Sister Howes. Sorry if I worried you, but it was too funny of a story to keep all to my self :D bwhahaha.
Well this week........where to begin. I want to tell you something, but I promise that it is nothing to worry about, but it is really interesting. So this guy named K that we are teaching, he is friends with all of the homeless-drug addicts in Mesa I am pretty sure. He himself is trying to quit a few drugs. So basically we are teaching all of the homeless drug population in Mesa in a crack house. Haha, but really, don't worry, we always take members with us. But Sister Anderson and I really have to laugh at times.
Also, I have never talked to so many people that want money from the Bishop. This week we have taught a lot about how to be self reliant. Money doesn't grow on trees, you have to work for it. So many people want to take the easy way out these days and not take any responsibility. They obviously did not have parents like mine (thank you by the way :)
Okay okay, on a HAPPY NOTE! We are so sososososo excited for the 23rd for M and F's wedding and baptism. Really, it is going to be one of the best days ever. I have been thinking about all the things that I like doing (not that I am good at them, but I like them) like doing hair, cake decorating, teaching, getting to know people, helping others change their life, throwing parties......and really I have decided that for my whole life Heavenly Father has prepared me to serve a mission because I get to do ALL of those things! Really a missionary is a wedding planner, decorator, friend, maid, hair dresser, and teacher. Haha, all of my favorite things in one :D Bwahahhaha. Well to say the least, we are going to do the best we can to make their day special :D
So this week we have been sharing Helaman 5:12 with a lot of people. It says, "Remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall."
I love it. It talks about building our foundation in Christ so when trials come, they won't knock us down because we have that firm foundation. And really, that scripture tells us everything we need to know. That is the reason we go to church, the reason we read our scriptures, the reason we say our prayers, the reason we need to keep the commandments...because all of those things help us build that foundation of Christ in our own lives. Every single one of those things will help us feel the Spirit more in our lives and will protect us from the evils of the world. We don't have to change the world, we just have to change ourselves. Important? Yes. Without that foundation of Christ we have hope for nothing, but with that foundation in Christ we have hope for Eternal Life and for families that are together forever. All due to our Savior Jesus Christ.
